Sally
Korol - 32 years old - I was born and bred in the North East of
England but eventually moved to East Anglia to study in 1996 where
I stayed.
I
have loved to paint and draw all my life and follow in the footsteps of my
father and grandfather as the youngest artist in the family. I
studied Fine Art at Cleveland College of Art and Design and then followed
with a degree in Illustration at the University of East Anglia. Since then
I have continued to create for myself, but also as a commissioned
artist for various people and companies in a wide range of styles and
media. I am now in full time employment but enjoy spending as much time as
possible pursuing my interest.
I
found that I had lost direction for some time when I began full time
employment, but it returned when I began to appreciate the
preciousness of time much more due to my increasing work commitments...
I
draw my inspiration from that which is closest to me, my family, my pets
and the local vicinity. In this respect, I love to draw in slight caricature
- or (you might say) with a fond humour!
Also,
I have always been inspired by the sea and the relentlessly changing
weather and light conditions associated with it - it releases an
energy, helping me to paint my larger canvases! - There's nothing better
than being thoroughly wind battered to inspire me!
I
have an interest in organic but stylised and ordered forms and, no matter
how wild an artwork may be, I like to find an order with which to hold it
together, or a pattern that fits it to another artwork. I like balance and
clarity, but most of all - colour!
