MARINE WATERCOLOUR LANDSCAPE  PAINTING "St. Malo" by John Vallins

This watercolour painting of Saint Malo is a delightful picture of one of the most attractive coastal towns of Northern Brittany. The Old Corsair City Of Saint is situated on the right bank of the estuary leading from the Rance River and it's surrounded by a fortress wall that provides a promenade along the river and the town.

In this painting the artist is particularly interested in showing the contrasts of light and shade which he has executed with an extremely delicate but also strong hand. 

The juxtaposition of the bright and dark parts I suggest adds some extra energy to this artwork that is a splendid watercolour landscape of the French coast.
